Body, Soul and Spirit 1

“Is Chimdi in this car?” Mummy asked as they drove home from church. Chimdi has been quiet all through the ride home from church and it was unlike him, he usually shared everything that happened in his Sunday school class with his parents.

“I am here Mummy, I am thinking.” He replied.

His parents looked at themselves and chuckled in amusement. “What are you thinking about Chimdi? Maybe we can help.” His Daddy said.

“Well, Mr Ayo, my Sunday School teacher said we have a Spirit, Soul and a body. I don’t understand, how can I be three, where are the rest?” Chimdi asked, he had thought and thought about it but he did not know how it is possible.

They had just gotten home and were entering the house. So Daddy told Chimdi to stay in front of the door while Mummy went in to change out of her dress.

Then Daddy said.

“Who owns this house Chimdi?”

Puzzled by the question, he replied. “We do.”

Daddy said, that’s like our bodies, it’s the house for our souls and spirits. We inside the house are like the spirit and this door is like our souls. If a message wants to get to your spirit or body, it has to pass through your soul.”

“Also, God is Spirit, He speaks to your Spirit who then communicates to your soul and mind. If Mummy wants to tell you where your food is, she will tell and you will open the door to the kitchen to get the food. That is how the spirit communicates with the soul.

But if you fill your soul with junk like lies, bitterness, noise, too much play, cartoons and other junk stuffs, it’s like packing loads in front of the door, all those things will block you from reaching the door or like wearing a loud headphone when Mummy was speaking to you. The noise and junk block us from hearing what God is saying, He is speaking but we are not hearing.

Do you understand or have any questions?” Chimdi’s father asked.

“Hmmm! Daddy, I need to think about it, I will tell you what I think later” Chimdi replied as he thoughtfully walked into his room.
