Cup of Cereal and Creatures of Habit
My children wanted cereal for dinner, I poured it into a cup for them but made Samuel ‘s own bigger. When I handed the cups to them, Samuel shook his head and pointed to his favorite cup, which I gave his sister.
“This is bigger, and I made this for you.” I tried explaining but he started throwing a tantrum. All he was interested in was, it was not his favorite cup, and someone else was with it.
I kept it on the table and told him he could have it when he was done. He came to apologize when he was done and went to get his food.
This is so typical of us…We are creatures of habit but God is not, He leads and answers us in the best way for us. But sometimes we miss our blessings because they don’t come in ways we expect or are used to, it’s not familiar so it can not be right.
We abandon our gifts because it looks like other people have it better than us or it doesn’t look glamorous compared to others. I remember once telling my mum “If I have half this person’s talent I will do big things!” She gave me a side-eye and said, “what big thing have you done with the one you have?”
Could your answer lie in the things you are ignoring because they are unfamiliar?
Have you been throwing life tantrum?
Is your attention fixed on how you can do better with other people’s gifts?
Do a mind audit today and tell yourself, “God can not be boxed into a corner, so I am open to His way.”
