Goal Settings

I am part of an online prayer group at kstonecc.org. On Thursday, during one of the meetings, the organizers asked us to bring our 2018 goals to pray on them. I was like whaaa…!? This is only November.

I use to write goals but I stopped somewhere but I did not see any difference. They always went unfulfilled and I stopped. I joined the New Year resolution crowd. It never passed the second week before I forgot I had a resolution to begin with.

Now I am asked for my goals two months before the end of the year. Then I heard Ijeoma Ndukwe of Bubez Pap say she is through with 2017. Good Lord Almighty! I thought there has to be something to this or something I am missing.

Then, I checked the way I was writing the goals and went to Mr. Google to ask questions but I got more confused. Yes the goals have to be SMART but what is that exactly? I have to write spiritual, career, family, health, well-being, social and financial goals. What does that entail exactly? That was my dilemma.

Another group I am part of is Daniel online book club. This week, we are discussing Success Acceleration by Tony Jeary. Guess what… it simplified goal setting answering all my questions. Then a friend sends me a book, The Magic by Rhonda Byrne going further in explaining and guiding me in writing my goals.

You can call it coincidence but I see it as God aligning me for a better 2018. It also shows I am on the right path.

I am writing the goals already and I am excited with a spring in my step knowing I have something to look forward to. I will not be tossed about by every wind that blows in 2018. I have something to work towards and look forward to.

I love how I am growing and learning. This has been a learning and growing year for me. Had I stayed in my lane, not stepping out… I doubt if I would have learnt any of these but I sought to grow and know. Then the universe met me halfway.

Do you write goals?

How have they worked for you?

What did you learn from them?

Do you think they are worth it?

How have you stepped out of the familiar?

What did you learn this year?

XOXO
