Lame Reasons Why I Should Not

I received this email from a coach I subscribed to receiving her emails… speaking of which, do you know you can subscribe to this blog also and receive notifications for all posts in your mail? scroll down and drop your name and email and with my every click you receive a beep.

Anyhoo here is the email… it just spoke directly to me because I am guilty of more than one of the reasons listed. Let me know what you think in the comment section. Did it resound with you like it did with me? if it did, will you be doing anything differently or you are comfortable where you are?

Progress comes when we stop making excuses and start making changes.

Heaven inspired ideas are too often met with apathetic attitudes and lame excuses.

LAME EXCUSE #1: “I don’t have the money.”

I’ve heard this at every level, from the guy who has a small business idea… all the way up to mega-corporations I’ve consulted for.

You can make this excuse whether you’ve got one dollar (Naira) or one billion.

The people who get past it are the ones who succeed.

They barter or trade for services… They save up… They cut their expenses… They sell something… They take out a loan… Apply for a grant…

Successful people don’t let the lack of ANY resource keep them stuck.

Successful people don’t make excuses– they make a way!

LAME EXUSE #2 “I don’t have the time.”

You have the exact same 24 hours in a day that Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet and every other busy, successful person has.

Examine how you spend your 24 hours, cut out the time wasters, and you’ll find the time!

LAME EXCUSE #3: “I’ve never done this before.”

Are you still crawling? No! Because you tried walking.

Were you born with a driver’s license? No! You got behind a wheel and learned to drive a car.

There are tons of things you’ve succeeded at that you’d never done before you tried.

LAME EXCUSE #4: “I don’t have the skills.”

I have two words of advice for you: Almighty Google.

You can find tutorial videos, books and courses on how to do practically anything on the Internet — for free.

Search anything on YouTube and a 12-year-old in Romania will show you how to do it!

You can get a college-level education just from reading the books found in your local library.

You can go to “automobile university” and learn new skills by listening to teaching CDs instead of listening to the radio as you drive.

So throw away the idea that a college degree is standing between you and what you want, because that’s almost never true.

LAME EXCUSE #5: “The conditions aren’t right.”

Waiting for things to be perfect is the worst possible excuse, because things will never be perfect.

Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “If you wait for the perfect conditions you’ll never get anything done!”

While you’re waiting for the “right conditions” someone else is getting results because they started.

LAME EXCUSE #6: _________ says I can’t/ shouldn’t/ am not good enough to do this.

Listen, people are going to disagree with you.

They won’t get your vision.

They won’t believe in you.

SO WHAT?!

God believes in you and that’s enough.

LAME EXCUSE #7: I don’t have anything new.

Some of the most successful businesses out there didn’t invent something totally new.

LivingSocial was invented before Groupon.

MySpace came before Facebook.

My point is, you don’t have to do something completely new to be successful.

Take something that already exists and improve on it, change it, flip it around and give it your own spin.

There are billions of books out there about the same topics, but each one is unique.

There are millions of Italian restaurants, apps, automobiles, public speakers… all different.

It’s not about how you will be totally new, but how you will be different and better.

Well, stop it! Time is short and the world needs you!

Be strong and courageous!
