Mind lockdown and Isolated opinions
I was reading and journaling when the children, as usual, came in and took all my attention with their demands and questions.
The book and pen I was using were abandoned on the bed as I attended to them, a few minutes later Nuggie asked for my pen and I pointed towards the bed(the books were also in the direction) she checked inside the books, but found nothing (they always get pens inside my books so naturally she expected the pen to be in the usual place).
All effort to redirect her to the failed because her mind was fixed on it being in the book; she lifted the book, shook it out, opened it one page at a time… Nothing.
Meanwhile, the pen was beside her hand.
I asked her, ‘must the pen be only in the book?’ she shook her head.
‘Then why can’t you look somewhere else?’
She lifted the book and shook it again while looking beneath it.
Frustrated she lay on the bed, now the pen was beside her head.
‘Won’t you check other places?’ I asked, but she was still looking towards the books.
Finally, she gave up and was walking out of the room when I called her back and told her to see the pen beside where her hand was. She saw it and started laughing…
I can be used to a way of doing things that I become blind to any other way. Even when things change around me, my eyes are glued/fixed on what I know that I don’t notice what is going on… Thoughts like; I have always done it this way, it’s safer doing things I know, this is how it has always worked for me, nothing else can work like this, why change it when it’s not broken… E.t.c.
Also, I can be so fixed on business as usual that I miss the miracle right before me. You can not put life in a box, God can deliver what we are praying/asking for through the window while we are busy waiting for it at the front door.
The world 🌎 and Life, as we know it has changed…some of us are running up and down with every wind that blows, some of us are feeling lost cos we don’t know what to do, some of us are burying ourselves in distractions to fill up the time while others are waiting for lockdown and isolation to end so we can resume business as usual. But things have changed, it can only go up or down(depends on the road you take) not back to how it was.
Like Elijah told the widow of Zarephath, to use what she has in her house…Just like God asked Moses, what do you have in your hand? The most important ingredient is you, what you need is with you, either in you or with you.
It’s not in many activities neither is it in no activity… the answer is in your activity.
What is your activity?
Where are you looking?
Will you keep filling time with distractions?
Are you moving with the season or hoping things remain the same so you can continue with business as usual?
