Parenting with God series 2

Today is resumption day for most schools and school fees is the first thing impressed on my heart, to start this series with.

My first experience with parenting with God on this was about three/four year’s ago. We had put my first daughter in a school close to the house and my office, the school was perfect as far as we were concerned. So when the next two children came, there was no thinking twice about putting them in the same school.

The school fee was a bit pricey and it was worth it, but multiply by 3 people was a big deal. Physically, we could not afford it, but somehow we always paid without begging or borrowing. We had different advice to change them to something cheaper but we were reluctant cos it was the best school for them.

I am sure some of you have seen a broadcast message going around, it says: “put your children in schools you can afford, stay in houses you can pay for … e.t.c. well, I saw it then too and I felt, this message is making sense, we can not afford this, let’s take these children to somewhere cheaper. It was the third term, so from calculations, they would begin a new session in the new school

Anyway, the search began during the holidays and we got somewhere else, about 75% cheaper and closer to the house, but our hearts were not there. It’s something we can afford like everyone said, so that means we are on the right track right? It should not matter how we feel, I tried to console myself. The entire fees for three of them was half of what we paid for one person in the old school, it was that cheap…so that too was a plus right?

Ironically, we tried everything to pay this supposedly cheap fee, but something always came up to take the money, then there was no money to pay, we tried everything, even to borrow(which was something we were not comfortable doing) but we did not see to even borrow. I remember laughing at the absurdity of it all, this was not even up to 50% of what we have been paying for the previous 2-3 years per term, what is going on?

This went on till resumption day… Now, we were in a dilemma, other children had resumed, we had told the previous school we won’t be coming back and the new school refused to accept new intakes without payment… What do we do🤷🏼‍♀️ ?
