Thank you or not

My daughter was complaining about someone in school who refuse to appreciate what she did for her.

She: Mummy she did not even say thank you, she left like that.

Her Sister: Next time don’t do anything for her again.

Me: Did you do it for the thank you?

She: No, but when someone does something for you are you not supposed to thank the person?

Her brother: that is how so and so stepped on me in class and refused to say sorry.

I realized it was another life 101 teaching moment.

Me: I know we taught you courtesy and how to appreciate others but you need to know that, not everyone was taught by their parents, so some people may not know how to do it. You remember when your friend began coming here, he never greets nor says thank you but when we taught him what happened?

They: He began doing it.

Me: Exactly! When people do not appreciate or show courtesy, tell them where you can and since we have agreed you are not doing things for people’s appreciation, you should not allow their behaviour to stop you or make you help when you can.

I told them some of my experience and even Jesus who was dying for people who were insulting him while he was doing it and how that did not make him change his mind.

2nd daughter: (Hissed)Can you imagine?

It seems we need to repeat the lesson because e be like say they never too agree😁
