What To Do When Envy Steals Your Joy

I learned something from Eziaha recently, she has a fabulous blog by the way, and you can check her out at http://Eziaha.com

So I had been struggling with comparison, which was fast turning to envy for a friend, Ezinne, she also has an amazing blog too by the way (http://Zizzywrites.com)and she is a great editor/teacher/ghostwriter among other things.

So I was comparing myself to her (funny right, I know), whenever I came online and I saw her post, I get tensed up thinking, I am not doing enough, from there I started getting resentful and envious. I didn’t like the feeling but I did not know how to stop it, at a point because I was fixed on Ezinne and her result, I could no longer get ideas or be creative… I was frustrated.
Enter Eziaha, she shared in the WILD Women group about her struggle with envy, searching for a plan on envy in the Youversion Bible app and overcoming it.

At this point, I was ready to do anything. So, I went searching for the YOUversion plan and found it here http://bible.com/r/3Lv. I read through it and just like her, I agreed with most of the things the author said; I had to pray for the person, encourage the person and reach out to the person, but the last one which is confess how I feel to the person… ehn, truth be told it was not an easy thing but sin or secrets hidden gives it more power and I was done with the power I was giving this issue in my life.

Therefore, I did all and reached out to Ezinne and confessed how I felt to her and it was like deflating a balloon, the negative feelings just went with the air immediately I exposed it for what it was. Gosh! I have never felt so light.

The thing is Ezinne is not the problem; in fact, we are on the same side which is all working for God and helping others. This was the devil’s tactics to cause division and I would have enabled it by covering it up and smiling openly, thereby causing me to lose what I can learn from her and vice versa.

I also discovered sharing my struggle/weakness and victories over them will help others can help others with their battles… Eziaha sharing helped me with mine, now I am passing it on to you.

Lastly, exposing sin for what it takes its power away.

Are you allowing your mind and the devil to win the battle you are facing?

What sin are you hiding and pampering? Expose it to God and take back your power.
