What’s Going Through Your Mind All Day?
We meditate every day whether we know it or not, consciously or unconsciously. Today for instance, some of us have been thinking and talking about a certain topic…maybe the increase in the price of foodstuffs in the market, school resumption and the increasing rise in fees or even the #endSars protest and how you think Nigeria is hopeless.
Meditation is not only in a quiet place but what we carry into our everyday lives. If you don’t actively watch what we allow, anything can come for all night party in our minds, lips and hearts.
One of such instances when I was feeling overwhelmed by all the things I have allowed to gum itself to my eyes, ears, hearts and lips, I knew I needed to change my meditation and replace these thoughts. I went to John 3:16 and this is my conversation with God based on it:
Me: Daddy?
God: “yes, Love.” He replied with a warm smile.
Me: I just read John 3:16 and saw you love me, so I came to say I love you.” His smile got wider as he paused and hugged me.
God: I love you too my child. He gave me a peck on the forehead
Me: Even when I don’t understand you and everything happening, I still love you. Thank you for your love even when I don’t do everything how you want them, even when I am still scared after you tell me not to be afraid, even when I forget and feel you have abandoned me or you are not listening to me, even when I don’t fully get what your love means. Even when you speak in parables and I don’t press in more to find out what you’re saying, so fixated on me that I forget everything else. You still and will continue to love me. Thank you.
As I thought about this I forgot what was making me feel overwhelmed and out of control and the peace of knowing His love flooded my heart.
Does meditation take the problem away? It takes your eyes off the issue and puts your eyes on the One who is more than any issue and sees beyond the issue. Rather than sitting in the mud of life, it gives you a view that lets you see the mud is not your story, but a little pothole on the road to your journey.
What are you meditating on all day?
Are you conversing with your reality or with God?
What do you see… doom and gloom or the promises?
